Dr. Malia Emmerich

My personal philosophy in treating you is to give you the respect you deserve when under my care. Applied Kinesiology is a powerful tool that allows me to listen to what the body needs; it tells me the story of what is happening and the best way to treat you whether it be a structural, emotional, energetic, or organic issue. Every visit is specifically tailored to your needs.

In 1983 I began the Pre-Medicine Curriculum at the University of Colorado in Boulder. After three years, I transferred to San Diego State University and earned a BS in Physical Education. I then began my career as an Exercise Physiologist at Pritikin Longevity Center in Santa Monica, California.

What led me to Holistic Chiropractic
For years I suffered from lower back pain, headaches and jaw pain and I was only 26! At the time I was working for Dr. Ann Blair, a chiropractor in Beverly Hills, California who thought she could help me with those problems. Within 3-4 weeks after only a half dozen treatments I was completely better! Not only was I out of pain but I had more energy and flexibility and, because I was pain-free, I was less irritable, moody and stressed.

She then began to teach me about this particular chiropractic philosophy. I learned that the body is controlled by the nervous system - the brain and the spinal cord, and when there is pressure on the nerves, you have dis-ease. Chiropractic adjustments correct that pressure so the body heals by itself.

Dr. Blair has unfortunately passed on, but I thank her every day for inspiring me to become a holistic chiropractor. I will never forget her.

This profound experience led me to the Cleveland Chiropractic College where I received my Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine in 1996. I then moved to Orange County and had eight great years of learning and building my practice as an independent contractor with Health Dynamics, Health In Balance, and Laguna Hills Chiro-Med.

In the winter of 2003, I moved back home to Honolulu and started my own practice, Holistic Chiropractic and had the opportunity to work with children, families, athletes, professionals, and seniors.

In 2013, I moved to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, to be closer to family. I love living in this colonial Mexican town, spending time in the high desert and, of course, getting to know the wonderful people of San Miguel de Allende.
